Well the beautiful part is that my absence from the blog hasn't all been a bad thing. It's been a combination of laziness, excitement, and I guess I can attribute some of it to forgetfulness. So since I'm here to update on the past week, I'll start with the good news. Wifey got a new job!!! No more working on the weekends or evenings. Now the first question I was asked was am I still going to blog, ABSOLUTELY!!! Being a dad is exciting to me and even though Kia will be home now in the evenings I've grown accustomed to certain things the girls and I did together and those traditions we've started we'll always continue. One of the most important we've grown accustom to was when the three of us said our prayers before bedtime and then putting Daryn to sleep with Mike Philips radio on Pandora. Moments like those can never be taken away from me. So since every season must change and we learn to adapt and grow with each one, I consider this not to be a repeat from before Kia started this past job, but a new season in my quest to be the best father alive.m
So the week went by in a blur but I will recap the weekend. Shout out to my dear friends the Straps (Walt, Tae and my GD Madison),on Friday they invited us to attend a Halloween party at Madison's school (my big cuz and his family were also there, Neil, Toy, Nyla, Noa & Nevada) so even though we got there late, *Tae*, it was still cool to see all our kids dressed up and enjoying the holiday. After the party we grabbed a bite to eat and our kids stole the show in their costumes and drew special attention from two female patrons who even wanted to take picture with their phones. Overall Friday was great, thanks Straps!!!
Saturday was a lazy day, the girls and I sat around the house and played and watched TV for most of the day. That evening we went to my parents and hung out with my brother and his two kids ate dinner and relaxed some more.
Today, my mom who loves showing off her grand-kids decided that she wanted to take them to Cascade UMC Family Picnic Day, she thought I was gone say no to that.WHO? Have fun girls......
What can I say? Life is good! My family has been blessed, I'm blessed to have wonderful extended family and friends surrounding me and I survived a season in which I didn't think I could make it. "But through it all...I remember...that He loves me...and He cares...and He'll never...put more on me...than I can bear"
When the praises go up, the blessings come down!!!
Love y'all, until next time.................

Sorry...
Kia asked me yesterday if I still blogged....oops my bad!!! I didn't forget I think I just didn't put the time aside to unravel my thoughts and put them down. I will do better. Things have been going well, no complaints I think the girls and I are getting into a rhythm that we are comfortable. Although we pray that this situation changes we are happy with where we are and making the most of it. I love spending time with my girls anyway, so I don't mind.
Peace,

Monday Night...
I know I gotta do better in terms of updating on time but Monday night wore me out so bad I was thrown off on Tuesday. Where do I start? The evening started off normal for the most part but it quickly went down hill. First Daryn, decided that instead of watching TV with either me or Jay she wanted to play alone. The results...choking on a penny and throwing up all her dinner. Oh it gets worse. So next I asked Jay to go get me a pullup since I was changing clothes I might as well change diapers too. When I turned my head to see what Jay was doing Daryn decided she wanted to pull down her diaper and relea...........do I need to keep going? The life of a daddy!!!

A New Week Begins!
Sunday night was a breeze. At least for me it was...when its all said and done I'm really gone have to get my mom something for all the help she gives me. Saturday night was much needed release for Kia and I, hanging out with friends was just what the doctor ordered (we realized that night we were getting old, but we ain't there yet). So Sunday morning Kia and I went and ate breakfast with my parents and the girls. Shortly thereafter, my dad and I attended the Falcons - Panthers game. Good job Falcons and Congrats to the ONLY SHUTDOWN CORNER EVER - DEION "PRIMETIME" SANDERS!!! Once I came to pick up the girls we ate dinner with the grandparents, hung out for a while and went home. The good thing about the girls being out all day is no naps, so before I pulled out the driveway they were sleep. YES! Such a good night they actually slept the rest of the evening and they both woke up when mommy got home just long enough to give her a hug and a kiss goodnight. Now the only problem was the girls missed there mother so much that when I got ready for bed it was full........hold up, this here ain't gone work, y'all got to get out my bed!

Week Recap
I know I missed a couple of days, so I'll summarize the end of the week all at once. Thursday was rough, since Kia had been home a few days, the adjustment to her not being there was a hard one. We made it though and once again when mommy got home the girls were sound asleep.
Friday was a little different. Jaylin was picked up from school by her grandparents and spent a good part of the evening with them. So Darren&Daryn had a night all to ourselves. We ate out and came back home and played games, tickled each other and took a nap all before the big girl got home and disrupted the DAE synergy. Friday night was rough on mommy so when she got home the girls showered her with love and all was well.
Saturday was cool. The girls and I hooked up with Jaylin's godfather and my godson and we attended a carnival at Jaylin's school. Hate to say it but it was horrible!!! Three jumpers...one worked. Italian Ice...he ran out. Face painting...was the unfortunate highlight. They did have several XBOX Kinect gaming systems for the kids, but we have one at home so Jaylin wasn't impressed. Saturday is pretty much done, Mommy and Daddy are having a much needed night out so I'll get with you sometime Sunday afternoon!!!
Peace and Blessings

Business as Usual
Last night things were back to normal. Mommy was home and I think the girls enjoyed her presence, so it was an overall easy night for me.
My next question is what are we gone do about these B.E.T. award shows. If it wasn't for the cyphers.....

Night #1
Last night wasn't so bad...it's a huge adjustment for all of us so the fact that we are going through it together helps to ease the burden. The biggest change, will be for Daryn. I think I'm gone start the "daily mommy count" to see how many times she is going to say mommy in some form each night (I want my mommy!, Where is mommy?, etc). Jaylin is gone be a lot easier, since she's a daddy's girl she doesn't mind feeling like she has to spread the love and she can be up under me nonstop. Night #1 was a juggling act, after picking up Jaylin from my mom (thank God for grandparents; mom cooked dinner last night), I rushed over to pick Daryn up from daycare. Once we got home, I immediately began helpin Jaylin with her homework, while an impatient Daryn was crying for her dinner. Once seemed like an eternity later, Jay and I finally ate dinner once her homework was done, the girls watched a little TV and I researched how I was gone start my blog. After Daryn released all the green beans she ate I decided that I should stand tall and man-up for what was my self-proclaimed, biggest challenge, BATHTIME!!! Giving the girls baths was just not my preference and since my superwoman has always been there that was her department. Well as the great, Sam Cooke stated best "A Change Gone Come." Bath water was run, the girls played on their own and all I could think about was what Greg (my big brother) told me "imagine you washing the car - scrub, lather and rinse!" Bathtime led to bedtime and by 9:15 both girls were sleep...
One night down - Winner: Daddy!!!!!
Oh and before I forget, shout out to M.G. for the idea...
It has begun....
Let me begin by telling the world who I am...my name is Darren Ellison, I am a husband, father of two beautiful girls (Jaylin, 6 and Daryn, 2) and I was born and raised in Atlanta, GA. My daughters are the love of my life, each day with them is a new experience. They inspire greatness in me and push me to my limits to want to give them more and offer them the best I can. I consider myself to be a great father, being given the prestigious award of "Father of the Year" in 2005. With all this being said I must admit that my better half allows me the opportunity to be this great parent to them as she carries a great deal of the load in doing a lot with the girls. Which brings me to the purpose of this blog...due to unreasonable scheduling with my wife's new job, I am now a home alone dad, three evenings throughout the week and pretty much all day Saturday and Sunday. So this is my journey, some call it stress relief, some call it blogging, I call it my daily love letter to my girls....
